Children's Hospital Case Study - Utilities
Demolition of the Pennsylvania Hall and Civic Center in order to construct
the Children's Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (CHOP) expansion
in downtown Philadelphia required driving piles to hold a retaining wall
along Civic Center Boulevard and Riverview Drive. Numerous utilities and
services were known to be located below ground in the area.
Construction Solutions was contracted to perform GPR surveys to locate
services and utilities in and around the area where retaining walls need to
be constructed. Locations and depths of piping and conduits were denoted on
pavement and sidewalks as located. All located piping and conduits were
documented via a drawing in plan view and by digital photographs. |
