Engineering and Design for Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory
Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) contracted Construction Solutions to provide consulting engineering and design review services for the Tokamak Fusion Test Reactor (TFTR) Vacuum Vessel Removal. The removal of this test reactor was centered on special steel cutting diamond wire and wire sawing techniques. A mock up of the reactor was built. It was then cut with a modified wire saw and special purpose diamond wire in order to test the feasibility of this method. Construction Solution's wire sawing method met the entire design criterion necessary. It was also specified as the method of choice for the next phase of the project. |
