Removal of Dolphins for Texaco Refinery
Construction Solutions was contracted to provide a method of work for the removal of Dolphins at a Texaco refinery in the United Kingdom. They also provided the equipment design-build, onsite support, and operator training for Texaco. This project consisted of developing a method to remove existing steel encased concrete Dolphins used to tie up oil tankers off loading at the refinery. This left exposed anchoring steel that could be utilized for new larger Dolphins to be constructed onto the site. The method of work prescribed by Construction Solutions required equipment and skills not readily available in the local contractor community. Construction Solutions was contracted to provide special designed diamond wire-sawing equipment. Construction Solutions also supervised the completion of this project. The first cut, which included onsite training, was completed in one day. |
